"At our meeting on 26 July, attended by 17 members, there was a definite bias towards the "O" Gauge end of the market. Pride of place on the On30 test track was John Wormington's Galloping Goose. This is a Precision Craft Models creation to which John has added DCC and Sound. Complimenting this feature Steve Adcock had a 1 : 48 model of a Nodding Donkey oil well, complete with motorising kit, from Walthers and a very weathered Bachmann tank wagon with a scratch-built chassis. He had also sourced a very useful range of farm animals from the US via Ebay.
Not to be outdone the UK scene was represented by a fully painted version of Chris Ward's (Corse) 7mm O-4-O tank engine body. To support this he is now able to produce a fully detailed range of wagons, accessories and buildings all in the acrylic medium.
However, even amongst all the above-mentioned "heavy metal", the OO9 scene was not overshadowed. Bob Ayers had made a recent visit to Rainier Models in Innsbruck and returned with the Roco O-8-O tender loco (DRG version). To add to this I was giving my small stable of Paul Windle locos/railcars their annual gallop.
Finally our DVD presentation covered the Schafbergbahn and snow clearance on the Durango & Silverton; both full of raucous sound and scenic atmosphere.
Our next two meetings, at Twyning Village Hall, are on 27 September and 25 October; please note our earlier starting time of 7-30pm. Our website can be accessed, via Google, by posting M5-M50-NGM.
